Bucharest - Sibiu (POENARI), 300 Km - Aprox. 5hrs

After a rich breakfast and a short panoramic tour of Bucharest, head for the land of Transylvania. On the way our guide will tell you a bit about the life of Vlad the Impaler, three-time ruler of Wallachia, best-known for the cruel punishments he imposed on his enemies. Because it was also called Vlad Dracul(devil), his figure was associated by many to the famous novel of Bram Stocker - Dracula. First stop of the day will be in Poenari where lies one of the princely residences of Vlad the Impaler. Our guide will be glad to tell you all about the tumultuous life of the ruler of Wallachia but only after you prove your determination by climbing the 1480 stairs that lead to the ruins of the castle. Continue the journey towards Sibiu - one of the most beautiful medieval towns of Romania, selected as European Capital of Culture in 2007. Admire the Large and Small Squares, the Clock Tower and the Liars Bridge. We will visit the Evangelical church, an impressive gothic monument, built in 1520. Before you leave, make sure to check the surroundings of the church, outside you will find the tomb of Mihnea cel Rau, son of Vlad the Impaler, that was killed right in front of the church. Day 3
Sibiu - Borgo Pass, 350 Km - Aprox. 6hrs

Breakfast. Depart towards the land mentioned by Bram Stocker in his novel, on the borders of three region, Transylvania, Moldavia, and Bucovina. Before you arrive there, visit the hotel where the hero of the worldwide known novel Dracula was accommodated. You can taste the traditional dishes in a special part of the restaurant, dedicated to Jonathan Harker. Continue the journey toward Borgo Pass and spend the night in Draculas Castle hotel. In the evening feel free to explore every corner of the castle but think twice before entering the basement - there lies the coffin of Dracula! |

Day 4
Borgo Pass - Sighisoara, 300km - Aprox. 5hrs

If you make it through the night in this gloomy castle, pack your bags and head for Sighisoara. Located in the heart of Transylvania, this is the hometown of Vlad the Impaler and is considered to be one of the most beautiful medieval citadels in Europe. Though it is still inhabited, you will be amazed by the charm and mystery that surround it. Visit the Evangelical Church located up on a hill to get here you must climb the Scholars Stairs - a roofed stairway used especially during winter to connect the lower citadel to the high-school and the Church on the hill. You can enjoy your dinner with medieval dishes in the place where Vlad the Impaler was born. Afterwards enjoy a walking tour at night through the citadel. |

Sighisoara - Brasov, 125 Km - Aprox. 2hrs

Breakfast. Departure to Bran, visit the famous fortress of the 14th century, worldwide known as Draculas Castle thanks to the American film directors. Return to Brasov (formerly known as Kronstadt), medieval town that used to be the capital of Transylvania. Take a walk in the Council Square and admire the impressive Black Church. Visit also the hill where some historians assume that was the place where Vlad impaled his victims. Accommodation in a centrally located hotel. |
