Day 1
Arrive At Paro, Paro - Thimphu
The flight into Bhutan takes you close to the great Himalayas, offering dazzling scenic views of some of the worlds highest glacial peaks. As you enter Paro valley, you will sweep past forested hills with the silvery Pa Chu (Paro river) meandering down the valley below. Paro Dzong (fortress) and Ta Dzong (watchtower) on the hills above the town will be a fine sight. Chen-Ray Travel & Tours representative will receive you and will drive to Thimphu with sightseeing along the way. Drive towards the capital city, Thimphu. Visit National Memorial Chorten,The building of this landmark was envisaged by the third king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, as a monument to world peace and prosperity. Completed in 1974 after his untimely death, it is both a memorial to the Late King (the father of modern Bhutan) and a monument to world peace. The paintings and statues inside the monument provide a deep insight into Buddhist philosophy. Drive to Kuenselphodrang where worlds tallest Buddha Statue (169 feet) sits overlooking the Thimphu Valley. Enjoy the spectacular view of Thimphu city. |

Day 2
Thimphu
Visit Chang Gangkha Lhakhang one of the oldest Monasteries in the country. Visit the zoo at Motithang to gaze upon Takin, the National animal of Bhutan. Drive upward towards BBS tower to view the Thimphu city opposite to Kuenselphodrang. Drive down to the view point of Tashichho Dzong, the impressive fortress which houses the secretariat building, the throne room of His Majesty the King and various government offices. Visit craft bazaar where one can find all kinds of authentic handmade Bhutanese handicrafts including the national dress of Bhutan, Gho and Kira. Evening visit Tashichho Dzong the impressive fortress which houses the secretariat building, the throne room of His Majesty the King and various government offices. It is also the summer residence of the Chief Abbot and central monk body. Witness the Flag lowering ceremony before you enter the Dzong. |

Day 3
Thimphu-Tango Hike With Picnic Lunch
After breakfast drive along the Thimphu River for 25km to the base of Tango monastery, the seat of higher learning for the Buddhist Monks. Be prepared for a steep climb from the open car park and 20-minute hike through the blue pine and oak forest to reach the monastery. The Tango Monastery was founded in the 12th century by Lama Gyalwa Lhananpa. Phajo Drukgom Shipo also meditated and saw the vision of God Tandin (God with Horse Head), hence the name Tango which means horse head. Have picnic lunch at the base of the Tango Monastery by the side of Thimphu river. Evening free for leisure. |

Day 4
Thimphu-Gangtey/Phobjikha
Drive up to Dochu-la pass (3,088m/10,130ft) stopping briefly here to take in the view and admire the 108 chortens, mani wall, and prayer flags which decorate the highest point on the road. If skies are clear, the high Himalayan peaks towards the north east will be revealed in all their glory. On a clear day, the following peaks can be seen from this pass (left to right) Masagang (7,158m), Tsendegang (6,960m), Terigang (7,060m), Jejegangphugang (7,158m), Kangphugang (7,170m), Zongaphugang (7,060m) a table mountain that dominates the isolated region of Lunana, and finally, Gangkar Puensum, the highest peak in Bhutan at 7,497m. Drive towards Gangtey/Phobjikha and visit the Monastery which is about 4 hours drive from Dochula Pass. Gyaltse Pema Thinley, the grandson and mind reincarnation of Pema Lingpa founded the Temple in 1613, and Tenzin Legpai Dhendup, the second re-incarnation, built the temple. The present Abbot, Kunzang Pema Namgyal is the ninth re-incarnation. It is a Nyingmapa monastery and is affiliated to other Nyingmapa monasteries including Tamshing in Bumthang. Explore Phobjikha valley, famous for the Black Necked Cranes during winter. The birds are revered by the local people and are also protected by the government. |

Day 5
Phobjikha - Punakha
Early morning drive towards Punakha. Drive down towards Punakha visiting Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of fertility on the way. Visit Punakha Dzong, a massive structure built at the junction of two rivers. Punakha was Bhutans capital until 1955 and Punakha Dzong still serves as the winter residence of the central monk body. Bhutans first king, Ugyen Wangchuck, was crowned here in 1907. The fortress has withstood damage from fire, earthquake and flood over the centuries. The latest flood, in October, 1994, caused great damage to the fortress but miraculously spared its most holy statue. |

Day 6
Punakha
DRive further to take a small hike to Nyzergang to visit the Khamsum Yuelly Namgyal Temple. Pho Chhu Suspension Bridge - The 160 metres Pho Chhu Suspension Bridge is known for the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, which gives you spectacular views of Punakha Dzong and the Pho Chhu Valley. Drive to Nunnery viewpoint to enjoy the views of Punakha and Wangdue valleys. |

Day 7
Punakha - Paro
Drive towards Paro. Visit to Ta Dzong, which in the past served as watchtower for Paro Dzong and now houses the National Museum. Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong) built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, built in the 7th century by the Tibetan king, Songtsen Gampo. Evening free or can visit the Paro town with a street of typical Bhutanese traditional buildings. |

Day 8
Paro Taktshang Hike
Hike to Taktshang Monastery, one of the holiest and the most beautiful sites of Bhutan. Taktshang, the tigers lair, acquires its name from the legend of its foundation, when in the 8th Century Guru Rinpoche, widely revered as the second Buddha, arrived from Tibet flying across the mountains on the back of a tigress. |

Paro Chelela Excursion
Drive to Chelela Pass the Kingdoms highest Motor able pass (3988m). Enjoy the spectacular view of the Paro and Haa valleys on either side of the pass. En route enjoy the beauty of nature with different vegetation as you climb up the mountain. Bird lovers specially will love this trip. After lunch, drive up the valley to view the ruins of the Drugyel Dzong, which once defended this valley from several invading Tibetan armies during the 17th century. |
